Persevere, founded by Sean Hosman, has a powerful origin story. It began in 2012, two years before its incorporation in 2014, when Sean, the organization's founder, was released from jail after serving time for a drug-related offense. He realized that his advanced technology skills could pave a path to earning a living, while others with criminal records faced immense challenges in finding employment. What started as Sean's efforts to help individuals one at a time has now evolved into Persevere—a transformative organization serving hundreds of justice-involved and at-risk individuals across multiple states.
Persevere offers a comprehensive one-year programming course for individuals behind prison walls, equipping them with the skills to become full-stack developers. The program goes beyond technical training, incorporating life-skill classes, support, and even transitional housing to ensure a holistic approach to rehabilitation and reintegration. The success rates achieved by Persevere are nothing short of remarkable, with a 93% job placement rate and an 85% job retention rate for their graduates.
